The Bush Administration has
withdrawn a proposed rule which would have impacted the
admission of foreign nationals seeking to enter the
United States on business (B-1) and tourist visas (B-2).
The proposed rule which was submitted on April 12, 2002
would have ended the six-month admission period to
individuals entering the United States as business
visitors and tourists. Under the proposed rule,
individuals would be admitted for 30 days but could be
admitted longer if s/he could prove the need to stay
longer.
The
Department of Justice withdrew the proposed rule which
had been at the OMB. It is unknown whether the DHS will
resurrect the rule. |
