On November 15, 2004, United States
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced
minor modifications to the Permanent Resident Card (Form
I-551), commonly known as the "Green Card." USCIS is
now issuing the new cards, which feature the seal of the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on the front and
mention DHS on the back. The new cards also include
enhanced security features. All old cards currently in
circulation remain valid until the expiration date
listed on the card or until recalled by DHS.
