Transfer of files to the Texas Service Center
published 2 May 2006

As previously announced on our website, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has created a "bi-specialization" system whereby the four Service Centers will be "paired" to handle certain types of cases. The Nebraska Service Center and the Texas Service Center are paired to handle the adjudication of immigrant visa petitions (Forms I-140) and their related applications including applications for adjustment of status (Forms I-485). In anticipation of this shift in workload, the California Service Center (CSC) transferred a number of pending I-140 petitions and I-485 applications to the Texas Service Center (TSC).

Despite the fact that we submitted notices of appearance with all filings, it has come to our attention that employers are receiving these notices but the CSC is not sending similar notices to our office. The notices being sent out do not include the employees' names but simply include the case or receipt numbers. If you have received any of these transfer notices, we would appreciate it if you would send copies to our office so that we can scan them into our new database and insert them into the appropriate files.

If you have received transfer notices directly regarding the I-485 applications, kindly send copies to our office so that we can note the USCIS file transfer.
