On Friday, January 30, 2009, U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
announced that they were delaying the implementation of the
new employment authorization documentation regulations. USCIS
has also delayed the effective date of the new I-9 Form that was
scheduled to go into use on February 2, 2009. Employers should
continue to use the June 2007 version of Form I-9 for all
employment verifications until further notice.
Jackson & Hertogs will continue to monitor
the status of the I-9 form and the employment authorization
regulations, and will update clients as information becomes
available.
Employers may wish to review our
FAQ on Form I-9, which address many common I-9 questions.
If you have questions or concerns about I-9 procedures, please
contact your Jackson & Hertogs attorney. Jackson & Hertogs
provides comprehensive I-9 services, including training of HR
staff, auditing of I-9 files, and electronic I-9 completion and
storage.
