The DV-2012 DV Lottery will open at noon EDT on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, and end at noon EST on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Please see the Department of State (DOS) website for more instructions and more information: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1318.html.
The DV lottery visa program is a congressionally mandated program that makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
Jackson & Hertogs does not assist individuals in submitting DV lottery entrance applications. Eligible individuals must submit the applications online and do not require assistance nor should they retain anyone to assist them.
The following warning is listed on the DOS website:
Please Note: There have been instances of fraudulent websites posing as official U.S. Government sites. Some companies posing as the U.S. Government have sought money in order to "complete" lottery entry forms. There is no charge to download and complete the Electronic Diversity Visa Entry Form. The Department of State notifies successful Diversity Visa applicants by letter, and NOT by e-mail. To learn more see the Department of State Warning and the Federal Trade Commission Warning.
An individual selected under the DV-2012 lottery will then need to file either an application for adjustment of status or for consular processing. Jackson & Hertogs attorneys can be retained to assist individuals in filing such applications.
