Form I-9 remains valid beyond August 31, 2012 expiration date
published 30 August 2012

On August 13, 2012, USCIS announced that until further notice, employers should continue using the Form I-9 currently available on the forms section of http://www.uscis.gov. This form should continue to be used even after the OMB control number expiration date of August 31, 2012 has passed. The OMB number and expiration date is listed on the form in the top right corner.  Updated information about the new version of the Form I-9 will be provided as it becomes available.

Employers must complete Form I-9 for all newly hired employees to verify their identity and authorization to work in the United States. The list of acceptable documents that employees may present to verify their identity and employment authorization is divided into three sections: List A documents, which show identity and employment authorization; List B documents, which show identity only; and List C documents, which show employment authorization only. For more information about the Form I-9, please see I-9 Central: http://www.uscis.gov/I-9Central.
