On August 3, 2020, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a final rule outlining changes in fees for certain immigration and naturalization benefit requests which was scheduled to take effect October 2, 2020.
Although the rule was supposed to take effect on October 2, a court in the Northern District of California ruled on September 29 that USCIS cannot implement the new fees or new forms at this time. This could change at any time, so please contact your attorney for the latest information on the various legal challenges.
