COVID-19 immigration impacts

COVID-19 immigration impacts

Due to end of the COVID-19 National Emergency, the Center of Disease Control (CDC) issued an order that as of May 12, 2023, noncitizen nonimmigrant air passengers no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to board a flight to the United States. Similar notices were issued by CBP to air carriers, and notices posted in relation to admissions at the Canadian and Mexican borders.

CDC also modified its guidance to civil surgeons regarding COVID-19 immunization schedule for immigrants to typically require one dose, if due at the time of the exam.

Also, as of May 11, 2023, Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) terminated the ability for F/M students to count online classes towards a full course of study in excess of regulatory limits, effective for the 2023-24 academic year.
